STORY: In a report from the Arizona Republic, the Arizona Cardinals have been told that they need to travel to their Jan. 2 regular-season finale on Dec. 31 because of the possibility of computer glitches caused by the turn of the century. Although the NFL schedule won't be out until later this week, the Cardinals know they will end the regular season on the road because the Fiesta Bowl will be played Jan. 2 at Sun Devil Stadium. Normally, the Cardinals would leave for the Jan. 2 game on Jan. 1. The article says all 31 NFL teams have been asked by the league to designate a Y2K liaison. NFL officials have been working on Y2K plans for nearly two years and are optimistic that the games will be played without a hitch. An NFL spokesperson told the paper that the mood in the NFL is one of cautious optimism and it's continuing to plod through all the information we're gathering and making contingency plans to prepare for the worst.
