STORY: Reuters News Service reports The Bank of Thailand may print more money in December to cope with expected higher than normal withdrawals from banks spurred by worries about the "millennium" bug. In the article Reuters says the deputy director of the central bank's banknote division, Ittichai Chanthrinti, told reporters depositors may scramble to withdraw their savings at the end of 1999 if they fear Thai banks cannot cope with the bug. Ittichai did not say how many extra banknotes the Bank of Thailand was prepared to issue but said the central bank had sufficient resources to cope with rising demand in any unexpected circumstances.
