STORY: Thirty-eight states have passed or are now considering legislation to give government agencies varying forms of immunity from lawsuits for damages caused by the Y2K computer bug, according to a review of legislation in all 50 states by The Associated Press. States that have passed Y2K immunity laws - California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Nevada and Virginia. States considering Y2K immunity laws - Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. States where no Y2K immunity bills have been introduced - Arkansas, Delaware, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico and North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia.
