STORY: Open Systems Advisors, Inc. has announced that Viasoft OnMark(TM) 2000 is one of the winners of the Sixth Annual Crossroads A-List awards. The Crossroads A-List Awards identify the best new enterprise solutions -- field-proven for today's challenges. Vendors win a place on the Crossroads A-List based on references from early adopters. OnMark2000 is a robust suite of products designed to bring personal computers (PCs) and client/server networks into year 2000 compliance quickly, easily and confidently. The OnMark family of software technology was introduced by Viasoft in February 1998 as the first end-to-end suite of products designed to address each phase of year 2000 conversion on PC desktops and client/server applications. Viasoft won the award for the 2.1 release of OnMark 2000. The company's latest version, OnMark 2000, v3.0 was announced November 1998. Version 3.0 features three new products for Internet/intranet deployment (available first quarter 1999), Lotus Notes and networks (available now). Significant enhancements include even faster scanning times, ODBC database analysis, inventory and cross-checking of purchased applications for year 2000 compliance, simplified user interface and a Wizard to guide end-users quickly through the process. While most companies are attempting to solve the year 2000 compliance problems on their mainframe computers, very few are addressing the problem on their PCs. Industry analysts predict that the desktop millennium date change problem will cost between $10 billion and $42 billion to correct, for the estimated 240 million PCs worldwide. "Viasoft OnMark 2000 has been very successful since its initial release last February," said Maurice Heiblum, Executive Director, Viasoft Product Marketing. "The products are being used in the banking, insurance, transportation and manufacturing industries, as well as local and federal government agencies, bringing us closer to our goal of becoming the de facto corporate standard for desktop year 2000."
