Computer Y2K questions can be answered on new Web site

If you want to know if your computer is Y2K compliant then all you have to do is log on. CompUSA has just created a Web site with links to manufacturer information.

The computer superstore has created a resource library for computer users. You can see if your hardware or software is computer Y2K compliant by logging on to their site. It will then provide links to 700 manufacturers and telephone numbers if you have questions.

The best way to find out if your computer is Y2K compliant is to check out your programs or specific hardware with the manufacturer. The new Web site also has links to various state government Y2K sites.

"Reliable information about the Y2K readiness of a specific hardware or software product can only be provided by the original manufacturer of the product, " said James Halpin, CEO of CompUSA.

"We have combined manufacturer Internet addresses and phone numbers into a convenient library that we encourage all computer users to take advantage of to determine the Y2K status of their products" said Halpin.
