Aretha Franklin to Perform for Pope

Soul singer will appear as a part of the Jubilee 2000 Millennium Celebration

Aretha Franklin, beloved Queen of Soul, will appear as part of a command performance for His Eminence, Pope John Paul II. This special performance is in honor of the Millennium celebration, Jubilee 2000, which will be taped via satellite from the United Nations Building in New York City.

Franklin will be introduced by United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan. Her performance of The Lord's Prayer will be available for viewing in North America on June 29.
