STORY: Olympic style opening ceremony and fireworks featured in huge Coliseum show The city of Los Angeles hasn't finalized its official millennium celebration, but promoters of LA2000, a huge family oriented extravaganza have. The show will combine the pageantry of an "Olympics-style" opening ceremony with a 20 minute spectacular fireworks and laser show display. Over three thousand performers will take the stage at the Coliseum on New Year's Eve to offer Los Angeles' salute to the new millennium. Production numbers will feature the USC Trojan Marching Band, joined by a 700 member drill team and pep squad from the Los Angeles Unified School District, a 1000 member choir, a 600 piece especially assembled Millennium Show Band from Southern California high schools, and more. There will also be some fun audience participation. The entire show including fireworks will be broadcast live by KLSX 97.1 FM Talk Radio. As the minutes tick down to the new millennium, the Coliseum itself, will literally become transformed to the largest millennium clock in the world. The celebration will culminate with a laser and fireworks show display with some of the fireworks designed especially for this event by Pyro Spectaculars.
