STORY:
Michael Jackson Confirms Sydney Venue

Pop star Michael Jackson has confirmed his Sydney Australia New Year's Eve Concert venue. He will inaugurate musically, the new Olympic Stadium. According to the Daily Telegraph, promoter Kevin Jacobsen says Jackson loves Sydney and was married in the city.

Millennium organizers say Jackson's show will add to the extravaganza being planned for Sydney Harbour. Jacobson says Jackson will finish his show, followed by a concert fireworks show for him and then concert goers will watch immediately the city's fireworks on the giant screens.

Ticket prices have not been finalized yet, but Jacobsen said they were likely to be high because of the concert's timing.

Pop group INXS is scheduled to perform as part of the opening with American singer Terence Trent D'Arby set to take the place of lead singer Michael Hutchence, who died at a Sydney hotel in 1997 after consuming a cocktail of alcohol and drugs.
