STORY: One of America's most popular musical families, the Osmonds, will highlight an "Around the World" celebration of the new millennium in Branson, Missouri. Singers Maggie LaMee and Bill Brooks will join the Osmonds as hosts of the 24-hour celebration at the Grand Palace. The "Around the World" celebration is part of the "Grand Millennium Celebration" from Dec. 30, 1999, to Jan. 2, 2000, in Branson. The "countdown" begins at 8 a.m. Dec. 31 in Branson, when guests celebrate the new century reaching each time zone around the globe. For the next 24 hours, the celebration will focus on the countries and principalities in each time zone as they enter the third millennium. "Members of the audience may participate in the fun and excitement of conveying Branson's best wishes for a Happy New Millennium to the world," said Ed Michel, organizer of the "Around the World" celebration. "We plan to salute the countries in each time zone around the globe as they enter the millennium with live and taped greetings from our entertainers whose heritage represents that part of the world", says Michel in a press release. The Osmond Family, featuring Jimmy, Wayne, Merrill and Jay, are special guests from 9 p.m. to midnight and will feature 100 years of music for this performance.
