Theme park is claiming west coast's largest New Year's Eve dance party

Universal Studios Hollywood says it will host the West Coast's largest millennium dance party this New Year's Eve, a gala event featuring top recording artists Chaka Khan, Berlin, Missing Persons and Yari More performing in uniquely themed party areas topped off by a dazzling display of specially choreographed fireworks.

Guests will go footloose in the park with four dance areas that will transport them to a sizzling, high-energy Rio Carnival festival, a magnificent masquerade ball, a red carpet Hollywood movie premiere party or a romantic escape. Some highlights of the dance party areas include the world's longest conga line at Rio Carnival and a countdown of the top party songs of the millennium.

America OnLine (AOL) will also celebrate the long-awaited countdown to the millennium, broadcasting the revelry from around the world through a special interactive chat event. Guests at Universal Studios Hollywood will get the once in a lifetime opportunity to ring in the New Year with every country around the clock.

After a suspenseful countdown to the millennium, Universal Studios Hollywood will herald in the new year with colorful blasts from confetti cannons, party favors and a spectacular display of fireworks. The celebration will continue until 2 a.m. to allow guests to keep dancing or enjoying the most exciting rides and attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood including "Terminator 2: 3D," "Jurassic Park-The Ride," "Back to the Future" and "Backdraft."

General admission to Universal Studios Hollywood's Millennium Dance Party is $99. Guests can save $10 if tickets are purchased before December 1. A special VIP Green Room Pass will also be available for $250, offering all-day admission in the park, priority viewing at live band performances, an open bar and a buffet dinner inspired by legendary restaurants of Hollywood's golden age. Tickets are available at Universal Studios Hollywood and Ticketmaster. The Millennium Dance Party will be open from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Concerts will begin promptly at 9:30 p.m.
