STORY: Start with the fears of computer bug hitting on Janaury 1st, add all the people who are afraid to travel that do or have to work, you have a large group of people who won't celebrate the New Year's. So the city of Gilbert Arizona has come up with a unique idea, an "I survived Y2K" party, 15 day's after New Year day. The all-day event to take place January 15 is a scaled-down version of Tempe's annual Fiesta Bowl Block Party New Year's Eve Bash. The party calls for live bands and outdoor games. Town spokesman David Cannella told the Arizona Republic that a real New Year's Eve party in Gilbert was rejected because there could be a lack of police and fire personnel to handle large crowds and emergencies if Y2K utility or service problems arose.
