STORY: 68 Limited edition stamp featuring Canadian icons now on sale Canada Post has unveiled its limited edition millennium stamp collection with 68 specifically designed stamps featuring various Canadian icons. Stamp collectors can expect to see Sir Frederick Banting, Felix Leclerc, Glenn Gould, the revolutionary baby cereal Pablum, the Hudson's Bay Co. and Cirgue du Soleil. More than 100 artists and illustrators were brought together to design the millennium stamps and a 98 page book. The Millennium Collection, which retails for $59.99 is available both in sheets and packaged as a hardcover book. Other subjects depicted include Banting, the co-discoverer of insulin, Gould, the piano virtuoso, Leclerc, the Quebec folk singer, author and actor, and Tom Longboat, the Canadian long distance runner who won the Boston Marathon in 1907 and Terry Fox whose race against cancer in 1980 made him one of the country's most popular figures. Corporate landmarks such as the Hudson's Bay Co., McCain Foods, the CBC are featured. The stamp honoring Pablum, a Canadian-invented baby food shows the cereal smeared on the face of a wide-eyed millennium baby. Canada is following the example of more than 20 countries, including the United States that have their own millennium stamp series.
