STORY: The Eagles have been named as the headline act for the inaugural New Year's Eve concert at Los Angeles' new Staples Center, according to a press release issued by Eagles publicist Larry Solters. The classic rock radio mainstays join fellow Asylum Records alumni Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt for a show that Staples officials say will cap a three-month Grand Opening celebration for the venue, which has yet to announce any other bookings. Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt will kick off the Dec. 31 end-of-the-millennium festivities at 8 p.m. It the Eagles first U.S. concert in more than four years. Ticket prices for the show will be scaled to nine different levels -- $1,000, $750, $500, $350, $200, $150, $125, $75 and $50. According to a Variety report, higher-priced packages, possibly including premium seating and private party access are under consideration. The high end of the price spectrum, while remarkable for a rock event, manages to pale next to the current high mark established by Barbra Streisand's recently announced New Year's Eve concert at Las Vegas' MGM Grand, which tops off at $2,500. Staples Center Luxury Suite owners receive tickets for all concerts, including the Eagles' New Year's Eve performance. Premier Seat holders will have the first option to purchase their seats for this event. Tickets for the concert are scheduled to go on sale May 16th.
