STORY: Sting, Phil Collins, N'Sync, Santana and more named for around the world broadcast Sting, Phil Collins, N'Sync, Santana, Jean Michele Jarre, Maxi Priest and Mike Oldfield are among worldwide entertainers who will appear in year-end TV special called "MILLENNIUM LIVE... Humanity's Broadcast." The show is from PAX TV and Millennium Television Network (MTN), producers of "Live Aid," and is the first-ever 24-hour "live" interactive, convergent global telecast. MTN is in final discussions to include artists such as Bryan Adams, Simply Red and Spice Girls. Additional talent will be announced as they are confirmed. "This broadcast will mark the first time in the history of civilization that we have been completely and totally united as a race, able to interact, converse, celebrate and dream as one people." says Hal Uplinger, creator and executive producer of the event in a press release. Uplinger was creator and executive producer of "Live Aid". The show will feature New Year's Eve celebrations from the world's 24 time zones and be seen in the United States starting at 6 a.m. (EST), December 31 on PAX TV in the US. Several international hosts, based at the MTN's broadcast headquarters in Los Angeles, will guide viewers through the 24 hours as the world brings in the New Year. "Millennium Live" will begin at the Pacific Dateline in Fiji and travel west across the globe. It will take viewers and listeners of all nations on an interactive journey that will capture the highlights of international celebrations and festivities. Each hour of the show will feature celebrities, musical acts, interviews and visions for the future presented by well-known international figures and average people. Fifteen host cities will be primary providers of the live events, activities and interviews from their regions. Host cities include: Berlin, Bombay, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo, Beijing, Capetown, Istanbul, Rome, London, Toronto, New York City, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City and Moscow. Additionally, more than one hundred countries will participate by providing programming content for the broadcast. Specially produced "Millennium Moments" will be an integral segment of each hour. These Millennium Moments from celebrities, world leaders, heroes and average people worldwide will present views, concerns and messages of hope for the future. World leaders such as Nelson Mandela and Tara Ghandi will be among notable figures that will be sending messages to viewers. It is anticipated that the broadcast will attract more than 3.5 billion worldwide participants. MTN's broadcast partners, in addition to PAX TV, are Bandeirantes/Brazil; ZeeTV/India; Telecinco/Spain; SAT I/Germany; SABC/South Africa; VIBE TV/Japan; Nine Network/Australia; City TV/Canada; Venevision/Venezuela; and France Televisio. Currently 110 countries are committed to air the program. Westwood One is the radio partner for the broadcast and will distribute the show via radio in both the U.S. and internationally.
