STORY: Time Capsule, Digital Memories part of targeted millennium push As the end of the century quickly approaches, Eastman Kodak Company has unveiled the first of its Millennium product offerings and commemorative activities. Kodak Picture CD, a new product from a co-effort between Kodak and Intel Corporation, is an innovative, auto-running CD-ROM that incorporates software and a consumer's pictures on one disc. During a limited time at the end of 1999, snapshooters will be able to view their own Millennium moments alongside the most memorable photos of the 20th century. Kodak Picture Maker is a fast and easy way to make photo quality reprints- without negatives-in minutes to share with family and friends. In the spirit of the Millennium, special border frames have been added to the Kodak Picture Maker so consumers can commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime event. Located at URL www.kodak.com/go/photoquilt, the Kodak Millennium PhotoQuilt is an extraordinary Web site that allows people to share their own Millennium photos and stories with the world online. Using a digital image, site visitors can submit their pictures and stories that best represent their most important memories, the things they most cherish and their hopes for the future. The pictures are continuously "woven" together into a single growing picture collage which visitors can search, zoom and pan. They can also read the story associated with each particular picture. Pictures and stories of the Millennium PhotoQuilt will be displayed during the historic countdown to the new Millennium around the world, including on the multi-story Kodarama towering over New York's Times Square. Philadelphia's Photo of the Century Kodak is also sponsoring the Photo of the Century, the kick off event for Philadelphia's celebration of the Millennium. The Photo of the Century, which will be photographed in front of Independence Hall on July 4, 1999, will feature a "Century of Americans," one born each year on July 4, from 1900 to 1999.
