STORY: Unprecedented New Year's Eve project in Denmark will have people glued tothe TV How would you like to shoot a feature length movie in one day and have it air nationally the following day. It's going to happen in Denmark on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Four so-called "gorilla filmmakers" will each shoot a 70-minute feature this New Year's Eve to be aired simultaneously on Denmark's four national TV networks on New Year's Day. The ambitious one-day turn around of the film followed by a national broadcast has never been tried before and there is no guarantee of the outcome. But these filmmakers have - shot from the hip - before, and apparently the broadcast networks in Denmark believe they can do it. According to Daily Variety, each filmmaker will man a directors' "bunker" from which they'll each steer one main actor and a crew around Copenhagen on New Year's Eve night. The unprecedented project called "D-Day" will cost DK3.8 million ($528,000). DR-TV, TV2, TV3 and TvDanmark will air the four films on their primary channels, and a mix of split-screen and directors-booth segments on their remaining five channels. The filmmakers also plan to cut and merge all four films into one for regular release. The is no mention if the rest of the world will be able to watch a portion of the movies as a part of the worldwide millennium broadcasts by the BBC, ABC and the Millennium Television Network.
