STORY: Ohio may join a proposed multi-state Millennium lottery game designed to award the world's largest lottery jackpot of more than $300 million on New Year's Eve. According to a story from The Cincinnati Post, Ohio is among five to six major states asked to consider the Millennium game proposed by the president of the Georgia Lottery Corp., who also envisions daily and weekly games from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31. The article quotes sources as saying it's just a proposal at this point, but sources said lottery officials are working quietly at the Statehouse to convince the Senate to insert an amendment in the pending state budget to authorize Ohio to join a multi-state game. Georgia, Texas and New York could be other major states joining the Millennium game, which already has been rejected by Michigan. The drawing for the Millennium jackpot on Dec. 31 would involve correctly matching six numbers from zero to 99 as compared to the Ohio Super Lotto game which draws six winning numbers from one to 47. The jackpot game would seek to eclipse the record $295.7 million Powerball prize awarded last July 29 to 13 machine shop workers in suburban Columbus.
