Seats still available on second Concorde flight from Paris to New York

Seats onboard the "Millennium II," the Air France Concorde Charter flying between Paris and New York City are still available, while another Concorde flight is reportedly sold out. Only 30 out of 100 seats remain on Millennium II that departs Paris on January 1, 2000, and arriving in New York on December 31, 1999.

The first Concorde flight announced last year as part of an $75,000, 18-day millennium tour by travel operator, Intrav is sold out. It will feature a similar flight to the Millennium II charter. The Air France ticket is $7,695, one way. Air France is assuring that the Concorde is Y2K compliant.

Passengers flying on the Air France Concorde Charter Flight 2000 will make history when they depart from Paris' Charles de Gaulle International at 12:15 a.m. on January 1, 2000, and arrive at New York's JFK International at 9:53 p.m. on December 31, 1999, in effect "traveling back in time."

"Flying supersonic on Air France's Concorde enables passengers the unique opportunity of celebrating the millennium twice, once in Europe and once in the United States," said Donald L. Pevsner, president of Concorde Spirit Tours in a company press release.

"We have been delighted with the response to this one-time-only chance. Traveling at over twice the speed of sound passengers will go from the 21st century back to the 20th century, permitting them the very rare pleasure of welcoming a new century twice in a lifetime," Pevsner added.

The average Concorde supersonic flight time is 3 hours and 25 minutes versus a subsonic flight of 8 hours. The Air France Concorde operates with a crew of 3 pilots, one purser and 5 flight attendants. The aircraft's cruise speed is Mach 2.02 or 1,320 miles per hour at an altitude of 60,000 feet.

The $7,695 Millennium II ticket between Paris and New York is combinable with special fares to create a round-trip ticket from anywhere in the United States. Millennium II tickets can be purchased through a travel agent or by contacting Concorde Spirit Tours at FAX 407-449-0883
