STORY: According to the Party 2000 website (www.party2000.com), organizers are on the verge of cancelling the event and they are willing to hand over their plans to anyone who's willing to take over the project. The Party2000 website says: "After six years of pre-production, in the development of the biggest concert, party and 1999 New Year's Eve Celebration, owners of Party 2000 have decided to literally give the production away to any person, or company, who have the financial resources for an event of this magnitude, or, call it quits." "This announcement came within days after Party 2000 ran in to a snag with the 5000 acres it was to acquisition for the event, and, the diminishing funds required to hold such an event." "Party 2000 was to be a Five-Day, Mega-Celebration, in Southern California to be held on December 28, 1999 through January 1, 2000 with an expected turn out of nearly 2.5 million people, from around the world, in attendance." "Party 2000 was ready to launch its' ground breaking ceremonies in March of this year. Everything was going smooth, and, was within weeks of signing up the Biggest Bands and Celebrities in the world from The Rolling Stones to Garth Brooks." "Agreements with power companies, sanitation, security, medical, engineers, contractors, fireworks, vendors, and all other aspects of this tremendous event, was ready to go when the production came to a halt." "Operating funds of the event were running very low, and, the property issue could have used up the much needed 60 to 90 days of precious time, and, could have easily cost, potentially, millions of additional dollars that simply were not available if the event was forced to wait." "With some 40,000 man (and women) hours invested in the project, Party 2000 has made a final decision to "Give the entire production away" to anyone (or company) who have the financial resources, rather than have had the past 6 years of hard work go in vain." The organizers say, "If someone does take over this "Once in a Lifetime Event", there's no question as to Party 2000 turning a Billion Dollar profit, as, countless tens of thousands of ticket requests have been pouring in from all over the world." According to the website, if someone does not take over the production by May 1, 1999, the event itself will be permanently terminated, as, there just won't be enough time for restructuring, and, a good portion of the bands will have already signed contracts with other turn of the Century events.
