STORY: Hotels announce packages topping out at $1999 per couple New Mexico has become a favorite hideout for the Y2K survivalists who believe the world as we know it will cease to exist after January 1st. But for those locals who think the sun will rise after the computer bug glitches or fizzes, Santa Fe hotels are making preparations for party-goers with no worries. Settled just outside of Albuquerque, Santa Fe boasts a uniquely southwestern feel with many New Year's Eve venues wrapped in the all too familiar adobe. Most likely, the big ticket for the evening will be at the Hilton which has the entire hotel set aside for a three-day millennium party that will cost $1999 per couple. The package includes three nights accommodations, a five course dinner on New Year's Eve, the Hilton's Millennium Route 66 Party and champagne brunch the following day. Party only tickets will run $280. There are three New Year's Eve parties at the Eldorado hotel with the largest featuring the 60's top 40 group, the Coasters. The price tag is $350 per person and features a six-course dinner and midnight buffet. Another rock 'n roll New Year's Eve bash with a buffet will run $200 per person and there's a five course dinner at the Old House restaurant for $95 per person. The La Fonda Hotel has a four night minimum with rooms starting at $249 and will have a party in it's ballroom that is a separate admission. At Hotel Loretto, they are planning a five-course dinner and party for $399 per person and guests would need a three night minimum stay. DATE: 07/26/99 For more E2000 stories, click here: |
