STORY:
Millennium Travel Prices Increase

Travelers looking for the ideal millennium getaway are facing increased prices and decreased vacation property inventory, according to recent findings by VacationSpot.com, the Web's largest vacation rental property site.

According to data collected on the site, vacation accommodations for New Year's Eve 1999 have risen 300 -- 400 percent above normal rates. In December 1998, prices for these properties were 180 percent above normal rates.

To help travelers plan their millennium celebrations, save money and access bargains, VacationSpot.com (http://www.vacationspot.com) has created a resource section with specials and interesting vacation rental options. For example, travelers wishing to be "the first" to experience the millennium can reserve an oceanfront house in Taveuni, Fiji, the only island in which the International Dateline officially crosses.

For travelers planning millennium holidays with friends, VacationSpot.com offers a "Send to Friend" feature that provides an easy way to forward property information to others via email.

"This isn't the year to be sitting at home watching the ball drop in Times Square. The millennium is one of those `where were you when' events," said Steve Murch, president and CEO of Rezworks, the company behind VacationSpot.com. "Moving quickly is key to creating a memorable millennium experience.

To help travelers plan this once-in-a-lifetime celebration, VacationSpot.com provides instant and easy access to properties that typically are hard to find. Current millennium special properties range from getaways on the Oregon Coast, farmhouses in France and villas in the Caribbean to ski area chalets and island cottages."

VacationSpot.com serves more than 10,000 visitors per day and processes hundreds of millennium-related inquiries every week. At VacationSpot.com, travelers can view photos, rates and descriptions of 5,000 rental properties, including private homes, villas, condos, cabins and select B&Bs.

VacationSpot.com is a service of Rezworks (Reservation Works L.L.C.) (www.rezworks.com), a Seattle firm founded by two Microsoft veterans in 1997. In April 1998, Microsoft invested in Rezworks, and VacationSpot.com became the premier vacation rental directory for the Microsoft Expedia Travel Network (www.expedia.com). It is also a featured provider of information to InfoSpace, MetaCrawler and Rent.Net. Rezworks also makes WinROOM property management system (www.rezworks.com/winroom) for independent inns and small hotels.
