STORY: Hanoi takes move to insure no complications from Y2K bug Vietnam Airlines will ground all flights just before the start of the year 2000 to ensure there are no complications from the millennium bug. Reuters reports the Vietnam News daily as saying flights would be allowed to take off after the new year had begun. An official for the national airline said could not say which flights will be affected because a schedule for that period has not been worked out. Vietnam Airlines has spent $2 million to make the company's computers millennium compliant. According to Reuters, Hanoi has already said the year 2000 computer bug problem posed a danger to key sectors such as national defense and aviation but that the overall impact should not be too great.
