STORY: Billy Joel will perform on New Year's Eve at Madison Square Garden, joining the list of pop heavyweights who'll take to the stage to usher in 2000. In addition to his big hits, Joel says he will perform songs he's never before played in public during the three-plus-hour show. Ticket prices will start at $75 and go as high as $999.99, in line with other mega- priced millennial concerts. Despite rumors to the contrary, Bruce Springsteen will not perform at Continental Airlines Arena, his publicist said. Forget Y2K. MTV is taking to the air for a "Fly 2K" celebration. The network is equipping its own custom-made party plane to take 10 contest winners on an overseas trip with the Goo Goo Dolls and 98 Degrees. Starting Dec. 20, the plane will head to Cairo, then make stops in Rome, Paris and London before returning to New York City in time for New Year's Eve. MTV will hold a millennium party in front of its studio in Times Square. Besides the Goo Goo Dolls and 98 Degrees, others set to perform include Bush, Blink 182 and Christina Aguilera. The London Evening Standard asked its readers to name somewhere they've longed to visit to mark the year 2000, there were more than 800 replies. Keep in mind, this is where the Brits want to go to.
