How much will you pay to see your favorite singer on a historical evening?
They are being called mega-meillennium concerts, and they are just a plane ride and few thousand bucks away. Almost every major entertainer is holding a concert on New Years Eve and getting paid handsomely for it. Of course, it's the fans that will pay the premium and are they ever. And as the saying goes, seats are still available.
The top ticket price: $2,500 per person to attend the Barbara Streisand concert in Las Vegas. The megabuck concert will be held in the MGM Garden Arena and begins at 9 p.m. There are some seats that cost just $1,500 also.
For $1,500 to $1,000 you can catch several musical acts at "Celebration 2000" in New York. The money will buy you a seat at the music-comedy-dining extravaganza that begins at 6 p.m. and continues all night. The lineup is impressive for the event: Aretha Franklin, Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Enrique Iglesias and Tom Jones will be performing for the expected crowd of 20,000 at the Javits Convention Center.
If youre wondering why the tickets cost so much for one night of entertainment its because the talent alone cost organizers $10 million. Thats about four times the normal rate because of the historical date. There are still seats available if you want to hop on a plane and join the fun. No, the ticket price does not include airfare.
If $1,500 is a bit steep you can watch the event on the web, but thats not free either, its a pay-per-view deal. If you want to catch a glimpse of the party for free you may want to have your remote control handy, Various broadcast networks will show small portions of the celebration throughout the night.
