Proceeds from sales at Tower Records will benefit singer's AIDS foundation
Tower Records, the world's largest independent music and entertainment retailer announces the introduction of the Elton 2000 candle for sale at its stores. The Elton 2000 is a new millennium candle to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The Elton 2000 is a clear gel candle accented with the hint of iced pineapple leaves, myrtle, peony, dianthus and white musk, and is infused with tiny bubbles that mirror the celebration of the new century. The candle will be available at all US Tower Records stores beginning November 1st. The large gel candle will retail for $30.00 and an additional $10.00 votive size will be sold exclusively at Tower Records.
``I believe with today's awareness and support of AIDS and other crucial causes, the candle will be well received, much like the Princess Diana and Frank Sinatra candles," said Kevin Winnik, Director of New Product and Sideline Merchandise for Tower Records in a press release.
The Elton 2000 candle represents the third in the series, which launched in 1997 and since the series' inception has raised more than $400,000 for the charity. The Elton John AIDS Foundation is an international non-profit organization that funds HIV-prevention education programs and direct care services for men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS. To date, they have distributed more than $12 million in grants to North America and $5 million internationally.
