One second after midnight on Jan. 1, 1999, revelers Henry Biernacki, Donna Whaley, and Christine Rangel celebrate the new year in front under a Millennium clock near Penn Station on Seventh Avenue in Manhattan. The group, employees of United Airlines, had a layover in New York City for the evening and decided to come into town briefly to celebrate.
