This is New Year's Eve at New York's Times Square in 1939. Crowd estimates were approaching 200,000 in square that hasn't changed that much in size over the last sixty years. Half a million partygoers are expected in the same square on New Year's Eve 1999. Expectations call for 1 billion people to watch the new Millennium Ball drop on television.
